"The creative adult is the child who survived." — Ursula K. Le Guin
We never create alone. There is the universe... and the inner creative child.
The universe reveals itself when we create according to our nature.
Even when we fail to act, it nudges us here and there hoping we take the bait it lovingly sets. And when we do act, it leaps to our aid with such ferocity that we grow dizzy from the abundance.
And then there is the inner creative child... the true self we often keep hidden behind a facade. This person is curious, playful, kind and generous... a free spirit delighting in all forms of wonder. We spend much of our lives suppressing its need to frolic and play through the act of creation.
I believe we never create alone. To create is to align with the inner creative child and the universe. In communion with them, we connect to the source of creativity and bring form from energy.
Alas, the adults we have become find alignment difficult. To achieve it, we must find our way back to the children we once were when the inner creative child and the outer person were one in the same.
Each time we align, we grow more familiar with who we really are. We shine brighter as does the sun slowly rising above the horizon... until that moment when it seems to light fire and blind us with its brilliance.
Child of creation, you are never alone. Align yourself once more and shine bright.
How thick has your facade grown in adulthood?
